Starting February 17th, Mecklenburg County attorneys get the opportunity to have your voices heard on who our next District Court Judge should be. That is incredibly important and powerful. That is one of the cornerstones of how a fair and just court system should work. Hearing people, seeing people, listening to people is the foundation of what I strive for every day when I put on my robe.

When I am holding court, I see before me people that have turned to the court when they have no other options. They are seeking relief, resolution, and help. They expect justice, fairness, and empathy. I hear them, see them, and listen.

When I am hearing petitions for help from the court in Involuntary Commitments, Domestic Violence Protective Orders, Criminal Charges, or Civil Suits, I hear from members of my community and seek to understand them, resolve their conflicts, and protect their rights and safety, all while efficiently and justly ruling on their cases. Whether I am in civil court or criminal; whether I am hearing from victims, plaintiffs, defendants, or attorneys; I ensure to explain what the court is doing and give them the opportunity to make their voices heard.

When not in court, I collaborate with our local court leaders and those from across the state to improve how we all can improve how the court serves the people. Whether it is education, technology, or honing our own skills, the court must always work to improve, to do better, and to do what is right.

I bring years of experience, both before and behind the bench. I bring devotion to progress, improvement, and fair and equal justice. I bring loyalty to the ideals that our court shall stand for all of us, ensure justice, and strive for equality.
